13 of Nazareth

13 of Nazareth, born Marquis Mix on September 13, 1976. In 1996, he picked up a pen at the age of 20; began writing to escape insanity. Since that fateful day, seven years back, 13 has written his way from the page across the stage into recorded tracks. “From Whence I Came” through “Complex Simplicity” into “Fallout Shelter: an epileptic's epic” are the titles of his chapbook, duet spoken word album with godchild the omen, and solo spoken word/hip-hop album respectively.

Each project has received more praise than the last. One might say that Marquis' writing grows like unto an embryo supported by a womb yet having life all its own.

When asked about his gift of untrained writing and delivery 13 responds, "I'm just a vessel available for art to be born through me…."
