Black Root

Black Root, an actor, poet, and lyricist is an avid student of the Hip-Hop and Spoken Word culture who always steps on stage with the energy necessary to move the crowd, and a swagger to know that he can do so. Root, as he prefers to be called as a nick-name is one-half of the dynamic lyrical duo Axiom (Black Root & Wordslave). He has thus far established himself in B-more as a talented Emcee and Spoken word artist. In his travels, he has worked with the Kelly Bell Band(Reincarnated 2007, track 8), and has emerged victorious in several poetry slams. One of the most notable wins was the BCCC poetry contest hosted by Mic-ology. The judges were Sam Greenlee, Sekou Sundiata, and the Legendary Last Poets. Root looks forward to growing as an artist as well as learning and sharing with artists and audiences alike.
