Queen Sheba

Queen Sheba incorporates poetry with urban cultural influences. Her range of statement extends from the pulse of hip-hop to the cerebral, timeless riffs of pure jazz. The Queen's themes deal with everything from old slave spirituals, serious societal issues, revolution, love, life, and liberty of the human spirit. A Detroit Native now living in Norfolk VA, Queen Sheba grew up in the midst of family devastation and failed personal relationships. Each experience motivates her ever upward with a feminist voice that woman-ifests stages on the East Coast.

Queen Sheba's performance style make her a requested feature performer at places like the famous The Cipher in Raleigh, NC, Harlem Spoken in Harlem, NY, Java Head Cafe' in College Park, MD, Gallery 409 in Baltimore, MD, Mangos in Washington, DC and Justin's in Atlanta, GA, to name a few. As a slam champion, the Queen has already racked up victories in DC, at Reign Productions, and Baltimore's famous ArtScape summer festival. Her work appears in several literary publications such as: Flash Magazine, The Dominion Poets 44th St. poetry journals, The Virginian-Pilot, Womanifestation Poetry Zine and online magazines such as vaprimetime.com and poetology.com.

Over the past year and a half, Queen Sheba has won over countless fans across the globe as well as starting the first spoken word label based in Norfolk, VA (Oya Exclusive). She currently is promoting her second CD, titled "The Siren". This will be Sheba's first year on the slam team.
