REGIE CABICO won the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam in 1993 & took top prizes in the 1993, 1994 & 1997 National Poetry Slams. He has appeared on two seasons of HBO's Def Poetry Jam. He is the recipient of three New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships for Poetry & Performance Art and received the Barnes & Noble's Writers For Writers Award presented by Poets & Writers for his Poetry Mentorship Program at Bellevue Hospital. His work appears in over 30 anthologies including The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, Aloud: Voices from The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Spoken Word Revolution,among others. As a theater artist, his plays have been presented at The Humana Theater Festival, Joe's Pub The Public Theater, Theater Offensive, The Kitchen & Dixon Place. His solo show, onomatopoeia and a quarter life crisis won a top 10 Play Citation at The 1999 Seattle Fringe Festival. He received two New York Innovative Theater Nominations for his work with the New York Company of Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind. He is currently artistic director of Sol & Soul, an arts & activist organization in Washington, DC & former artist in residence at NYU's Asian Pacific American Studies Institute.
