Russ

Russ is a man whose life has been saved by poetry. After a decade of addiction, Russ has stayed clean for five years thanks to the support of Narcotics Anonymous and the deep power of the poems he has studied, created, and performed. "Poetry Saves" is the title of his chapbook.

Russ is the two-time Slam Champion of the Ozarks. He created, coached, and competed in the 2003 national champion University of Arkansas Slam Team. He was also the captain of the 2003 Ozark Slam Team and the 2004 University of Arkansas Slam Team.

For the past 18 months, Russ has worked to bring slams and slam poets to the University of Arkansas. He is currently triple-majoring in psychology, art, and English with a concentration in creative writing. He makes his home in the Ozarks.
