Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns

It's been four years since Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns walked out on faith to pursue her earthly calling(August 2002). In that time, she's released four cds and two books. She's made a name for herself locally, across the USA, in Canada and the Bahamas. Her ability to freestyle poems leaves audiences amazed. She's in demand for every occasion you can think of(weddings/wedding receptions, funerals, retirement parties, birthday parties, baby showers, banquets, etc.). She's won numerous awards to include 2003/2005 Spoken Word Artist of The Year, she's won 3 slams(2 ~ the cash prize was $500.00 to one winner and 1 ~ cash prize was $250 to first place winner). She's appeared on mainstream radio (fm and am), internet radio, college radio and television locally and across the USA. Rebecca has shared the stage with many artist to include The Last Poets, Nikki Giovanni, Sister Souljah and Shang. Her work is appreciated by MC Lyte, Floetry, Robert Townsend, Betty Wright, Ralph Carter(Michael ~ "Good Times") just to name a few. She was an opening act on May 14, 2006 for the Mother's Day Mega Concert featuring Shirley Caesar and CeCe Winans ~ Miami, FL ~ James L. Knight Center.

Her latest project Passion, Poetville released May 18, 2006 is creativity outside the box. The poet brought to life the radio show interlude that is featured on the previously released works. From this compilation, the listener will be motivated, touched, moved and spiritually embraced. Of course, she stays true to her sensual side with the tracks Closer Than Close Pt. 2 and A Special Love Song(inspired by NeYo's "So Sick" ~ a favorite at live shows).
